Puppy Pen
First off you want a safe place for the puppy to stay when you are away or not watching them. If you are gone long hours a day I would recommed a puppy pen over a crate. The puppy will have room to play, eat, sleep and relieve themselves if need be. When you get one of our puppies they are used to going on potty pads and using a litter box. I personally perfer the litter box.....the puppies tend to go through a phase where they want to shred the potty pads. For a puppy pen I either buy a Iris exercise pen from Amazon.com for $50. They are 3 x 3. You can also go to lowes and get 20 inch wire shelving and zip tie 4 peices together to make whatever size you would like. Here's are some examples below.

Homemade puppy pen
This is the puppy pen that the puppies are raised in. I buy a piece of linoleum for the floor. Then I get 20 inch wire shelving cut to whatever size I want the pen to be. The puppy pens seen above are 6 x 6. Then al I do is zip tie them together. The nice thing about the wire shelving is you can make it whatever size you like.
Litter box
We litter box our puppies which makes housebreaking so much easier!
This is the litter box I use. I buy the large dog litter box from Petco
I use alfalfa pellets for litter. I buy this at the local farm supply store.
Water Bottle
My puppies are used to drinking out of water bottles. It leave the water fresh and their faces don't get all wet and musty smelling. You can buy dog ones from any Pet Store or you can find free standing water bottle stands online or water bottle converters like you see in the pic above

The converters can be attached to the puppy pen, a crate or a wall.

Dog Food
Your puppy will be eating Royal Canin Mini Puppy mixed with my homemade doggy meatloaf when they leave. We feed our adult shih tzu the Royal Canin Shih Tzu formula.

Doggy Meatloaf
3lbs hamburger
18 eggs
I large can sweet potatoes or pumpkin
3 cups cooked brown rice
Mix altogether. Place in casserole baking dish. Bake at 350 for 90-120 mins.
Let cool. I spoon mine into snack size ziplock bags, and place in freezer. Every couple days I take out a couple bags to thaw. Each dog only gets around a tablespoon with their food so this is enough for a couple months.
Ingredients
Add all ingredients to bowl and mash
All Mixed up
Put in large pan and Bake!
Let cool
